Our Accomplishment
On September 11th 2015, we attended a workshop at FCJ Refugee Centre. It was indeed a remarkable
event in the history of our organization. We had the opportunity to meet
some wonderful new immigrant women in the centre. The women said, our presentation gave them some sense of courage and hope in navigating the educational system in Canada. Specifically, one of the women was previously a Lawyer in her country before she migrated to Canada in 2015. Unfortunately, her foreign credentials have little or no value in Canada because, she came from non-English speaking country. According to her words, she is currently upgrading her English language skills in one of Toronto's Adult Learning Centres.
IWA goals are to
continue to empower many new immigrant women into the Canadian school system.
And also assist these women to successfully integrate into the mainstream
society.
